TOMORROW: Jazz for Justice Presents: ‘The Creators: South Africa Through the Eyes of Its Artists

Posted by Jazz for Justice

Tomorrow, Tuesday, October 18th, at 5:15 p.m. in McClung Museum Auditorium, the Jazz for Justice Project will present a screening of The Creators: South Africa Through the Eyes of Its Artists, an award-winning new documentary set in Cape Town.

Following the screening, filmmaker Laura Gamse and visiting anthropologist Catherine Besteman will discuss the film and its implications, from the socio-political role of artists in the new South Africa, to lessons about racial injustice for the American public. A Q&A will follow.

The event is generously supported by the Ready for the World Initiative, the departments of Anthropology and Religious Studies, the School of Journalism and Electronic Media, and co-sponsored by the Africana Studies Program, Amnesty International, and the UT Film Committee.
